Purpose of the Fellowship

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the Fellowship of the British College of Sports Health (FBCSH), applicants must demonstrate a combination of academic qualifications, professional experience, scientific contributions, and ethical integrity. The selection process is rigorous and aims to ensure that each Fellow upholds the standards and mission of the College.

Applicants are expected to meet at least three of the following core eligibility criteria:

1. Academic Qualifications

  • Hold a Master’s (MSc) or Doctorate (PhD, EdD, DSc, or equivalent) in one or more of the following fields:
    Sports Health or Sports Medicine
    Rehabilitation or Physical Therapy
    Exercise Physiology or Human Movement Science
    Public Health, Health Sciences, or Biomedical Studies
    Clinical or Applied Sports Sciences

  • Degrees must be awarded by an accredited institution recognized in the applicant’s country or internationally.

2. Professional Experience

  • Minimum of 7 years of documented, full-time professional experience in a relevant domain.
  • Experience may include clinical practice, academic teaching, sports health leadership, program development, or consultancy roles in national/international institutions.
  • Preference is given to applicants with demonstrated progression, leadership, or impact in their professional track.

3. Research and Scientific Contribution

  • Authorship of at least two publications in peer-reviewed academic or clinical journals relevant to sports health or related fields.
  • Participation in research projects, funded studies, or development of clinical or educational guidelines.
  • Presentation of work in national or international conferences or symposia is considered an added merit.

4. Recognition and Sectoral Involvement

  • Active involvement in professional societies, advisory boards, or academic committees in the field of sports health or rehabilitation.
  • Receipt of awards, certifications, or recognitions related to innovation, teaching, or leadership in the health and sports sector.

5. Professional Endorsement and Ethical Standing

  • No prior record of ethical, legal, or professional misconduct.
  • Commitment to abide by the BCSH Code of Conduct and Academic Integrity Charter.

  • Applicants with a combination of academic and practice-based qualifications, especially those holding dual roles in clinical and academic environments, are encouraged to apply.
  • Exceptional cases (e.g., applicants with groundbreaking fieldwork or national-level recognition) may be evaluated individually by the Fellowship Committee.

Accreditation and Fellowship Revocation Policy
